The basics

What 1:7 and 1:8 mean

Twist rate is how far the bullet travels down the bore to make one full turn. A 1:7 barrel turns the bullet once every 7 inches; a 1:8 barrel turns it once every 8 inches. A lower number is a faster twist.

.300 BLK: always 1:7

All One Horse .300 BLK barrels are 1:7 twist, in 7.5″, 10.5″ and 16″. See them built into a complete upper on the 300 Blackout upper page, or compare calibers in 300 Blackout vs 5.56. Running a can?
